Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light summer showers in various parts of Karnataka till April 12. On Monday (April 7), rain is likely in 11 districts including coastal areas like Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.
According to the alert, some areas in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts may witness light rain accompanied by thunder. However, dry weather is expected in Uttara Kannada district.
Scattered places in Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, and Haveri districts may receive light rainfall with thunder and winds blowing at a speed of 30-40 kmph. Dry weather will prevail in the remaining districts.
One or two places in South Interior Karnataka are also expected to receive thunderstorms. Moderate rain with thunder and gusty winds is likely in parts of Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, and Mysuru districts.
On April 8, showers are also expected in Vijayapura and Shivamogga districts. Light rainfall may continue across various districts of the state till April 12. After that, dry weather is likely to resume, the IMD said.
