Koraput: Three persons on a bike were rescued from getting swept away while trying to cross the flooded Malda Kailari bridge under Borigumma block in the district.
With the bridge submerged in water, the trio tried to cross on a motorcycle, defying the strong current and barricades put up to restrict movement. Midway, the gushing waters swept away both the bike and the riders on Thursday. Locals rushed to their rescue and managed to pull all three to safety. The motorcycle, however, got washed away and could not be recovered.
The three were residents of Jamuguda village in neighbouring Nabarangpur district. They had travelled to Kotpad on Monday and were returning home when the incident happened.
