NEW DELHI: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday reposted Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s post welcoming his 20-point comprehensive peace plan for Gaza.
On Tuesday, PM Modi posted about Trump’s Gaza peace plan on social media platforms X and Truth Social: “We welcome President Donald J Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict. It provides a viable pathway to long-term and sustainable peace, security and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people, as also for the larger West Asian region.”
PM Modi added that he hoped “all concerned will come together behind President Trump’s initiative and support this effort to end conflict and secure peace.” The post was later shared in Arabic and Hebrew as well.Trump, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu , announced the Gaza peace plan on Monday. The initiative is aimed at ending the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict that began on October 7, 2023, and sets out a 20-point framework. Key measures include an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, protection of civilians, and steps for stronger regional cooperation. International monitoring mechanisms are also proposed to ensure adherence to the plan.
The plan has drawn global attention, but its success is uncertain because it is unclear if Hamas will agree to the terms. Trump has said that a careful, step-by-step approach is needed to bring stability to the region.
Trump and Netanyahu have also warned of unilateral military action against Hamas if the plan is rejected.
