NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court disposed of TMC MP Mahua Moitra 's interim plea last week after being informed that BJP MP Nishikant dubey had removed an allegedly defamatory social media post against Moitra.
Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, who had also published a post against Moitra on social media. assured Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora of the removal of the post from his X handle.
Moitra had claimed to have been aggrieved by Dubey's post on Facebook and the X post by Dehadrai, which also had a screenshot of Dubey's Facebook post. The content of the posts was related to a CBI case involving Moitra and a Lokpal judgment on a complaint by Dubey against the TMC MP.
Dubey's counsel noted contended that it was Moitra's use of derogatory words and phrases with innuendos that had provoked the BJP functionary.
Moitra's counsel, however, pointed out that the objectionable word used in the post on her social media handles did not related to Dubey. The court took her statement on record and said she was bound to the same.
Moitra had initiated the fresh plea amid her pending defamation case against Dubey and Dehadrai over their allegedly false and defamatory allegations accusing her of taking bribes from businessman and Hiranandani Group CEO Darshan Hiranandani for asking questions in Parliament.
