Amid widespread protests and public outrage, Haryana govt has decided to hand over the investigation into the death of a 19-year-old schoolteacher in Bhiwani to CBI. The decision follows demands from the victim's family. The teacher, who went missing on Aug 11, was found dead on August 13.
CM Nayab Singh Saini said on Wednesday "state govt and police administration are working with full seriousness and transparency to ensure justice for our daughter from Bhiwani and her family", .
District authorities sent the body to AIIMS, New Delhi for a third autopsy. Police escorted three family members to Delhi; the body will be returned to the village where the funeral is to take place on Thursday.
The teacher's grandfather said, "Both of our demands have been fulfilled. Now, we want to perform her last rites." Farmer leader Suresh Koth announced that the cremation would take place on Thursday at 8 am.
