In a recent edition of Canadiens Mailbag , Eric Engels answered a couple of fan questions. Among them was a fan who wondered what it would take to get Sidney Crosby to leave the Pittsburgh Penguins and join the Canadians. We are taking a look at Engels' response to the same, and discussing the possibility of Crosby leaving the Penguins.
Would Sidney Crosby join the Montreal Canadiens?
Eric Engels recently announced an edition of Mailbag on Sportsnet before the season-closing for fans to share their questions with the critic. A fan responded by asking, "In the rare event that Crosby is actually willing to leave Pittsburgh and willing to come to Montreal, what does the marketplace look like for him and what would it take for the Canadiens to get him?"
In response to this, Eric shared that while Sidney Crosby has shown no intention of leaving the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, since the star grew up as a Canadian fan, there has been ongoing speculation that he would grab the opportunity. The fact that the team is on the rise and that the core members are promising might also be an exciting factor that may incite him.
However, he also added that the Canadians might not be the only exciting option available to him. Crosby could also look at the Colorado Avalanche, as they are a Stanley Cup contender. Also, because he shares a strong bond with Nova Scotian and Nathan MacKinnon. Eric also considered that Crosby might consider moving to Hollywood with the Los Angeles Kings, as he could be closer to his longtime agent, Pat Brisson.

He then went on to analyze that a trade deal between Montreal and Pittsburgh is more likely, as Montreal has an excess of high-value picks and quality prospects. This is something that might interest the Penguins as compared to the Avalanche or the Kings.
