Karwa Chauth , one of the most prominent festival that holds a major religious significance in Hindu religion. Married Hindu women observe fast on this auspicious day for the well being and longevity of their husbands. This festivals includes various puja rituals, fasting and other religious practices. Karwa Chauth is celebrated on Chaturthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik. This year, Karwa Chauth is going to be celebrated on October 20, 2024. Karwa Chauth 2024: Significance

Karwa Chauth is one of the major Hindu Festival which is celebrated across the country with immense joy and happiness but each region celebrate this festival with different ritual and name. This festival is mainly celebrated by married Hindu women for the long life and well being of their husbands. They observe strict Nirjala fast from dawn to dusk and they break it after moonrise. They spend whole day following all the puja rituals, offering prayers to Goddess Gauri and Chauth Mata and organize grand celebration. They celebrate this day with great enthusiasm and fervor. Sankashti Chaturthi is also being observed by the devotees on this day and they offer prayers to Lord Ganesha.

Karwa Chauth 2024: Puja Vidhi

1. Women wake up early in the morning and take bath.
2. Some women eat Sargi before sunrise and then take bath.
3. They wear new traditional and colourful clothes and adorn themselves with jewellery.
4. Offering prayers to Chauth Mata, Gauri Mata and Lord Shiva is one of the most important ritual.
5. They keep kalash which is known as "Karwa" along with wheat seeds, and Durva grass.
6. After worshipping the Goddess, they take some wheat seeds, and durva grass and tie them in their pallu after reciting the Vrat Katha.
7. Some women exchange their thali with each other and then recite the Katha.
8. Women prepare delicious food along with sweets such as semolina halwa, poori, kheer, and then offer it to the Goddess first.
9. Moon sighting is the one of the most important ritual of this Vrat as they first sight the moon and then offer kalash water to the Moon, then break their fast after seeking blessings of the Moon God. Some women sight the moon with the help of sieve and perform aarti to Moon God.
10. On this auspicious day, women give saree, shringar items and rupees as a token of love and respect to their mother in laws and take blessings after touching their feet.
11. After performing all the rituals, touch your husband's feet also to seek blessings and he should give her a glass of water to break the fast.
12. After breaking the fast, eat some sweets and then food.

Karwa Chauth festival is not only for a woman but it is an opportunity for a man also to showcase his love and care towards his better half, wife, or girl friend.
