Philip Noyce’s latest thriller, Fast Charlie (2023), starring Pierce Brosnan, is on a streaming platform. Speaking about streaming platforms, he says, "I'm willing to watch a movie on a small-sized screen if needed, but I'd prefer to do it in the cinema."
Philip Noyce says that the actors, the writer, the cinematographer, and the composer all contribute to writing the film with you. Sharing an incident with Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini, he said, "Federico said to me that the sound is much more powerful than the image, because the image goes into the brain to be interpreted. The sound goes straight into the central nervous system. It doesn't have to be interpreted. It's pure. Also, I know this from more than 50 years of work - when you find the right music, it's all different. Music is the invisible scriptwriter. The last script of a film is written by the composer."
Philip Noyce says,"In reply to, 'What does your father do for a living?' my son once said, 'He yells action and cut.' And he's right. I’m the ringmaster. You're trying to bring on the clowns, bring on the spotlight, and work out where the drum roll goes."
