KALYAN: Kalyan-Dombivli, notorious for illegal construction, witnessed significant action by the civic body as they demolished the plinths of 167 illegal constructions in the Baneli area before they could be properly built.
This action was taken amid heavy security and faced opposition from locals in the Baneli area of Titwala, which falls under the jurisdiction of KDMC.
The action on Tuesday was led by KDMC's assistant municipal commissioner Pramod Patil and his team. Despite significant protests from the local people, the administration managed to carry out the operation by calming them down.
Patil told TOI, "We completely demolished a total of 167 constructions where plinth work was done to build illegal rooms. Additionally, three illegal rooms that were fully completed were also demolished."
KDMC recently faced criticism after the case of 65 illegal buildings came to light, where builders constructed illegal buildings by preparing forged building permission documents. They used forged building permission documents to obtain RERA certificates and sold flats to buyers.
Following the issue of the 65 buildings, KDMC took action against many illegal constructions. In Titwala alone, KDMC demolished hundreds of illegal rooms before they could be built illegally or rooms which were constructed without permission.
