Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Tuesday undertook encroachment demolition and removal drive at two locations in the city.
The first action took place in Ward 32 under Zone 7. A five-storey building in Scheme-78 spanning 1800 square feet was demolished after it was found to be constructed illegally. The IMC team arrived at the location with police personnel and five earthmoving machines to dismantle the unauthorised structure. During this operation, in charge additional commissioner Lata Agarwal, removal officer Bablu Kalyane, and others were present.
The second action was carried out on RNT Marg in Ward 55 under Zone 11. Commercial activities were allegedly being carried out after encroaching upon the mandatory open space (MOS). IMC removed encroachment over approximately three thousand square feet area. A police force was also deployed alongside the IMC team during this drive.
Agarwal said the actions were carried out in two zones on directives of commissioner. "First, we took action in Zone 7. Here, a G+4 (ground plus four storeys) structure was built in an 1800 square feet area, whereas permission was only granted for G+2. The remaining floors were constructed illegally and the ground level had also completely covered the MOS. After receiving a complaint and conducting an investigation, we took action. A team of 100 IMC personnel was involved in this. Following this, another action was taken in Zone 11," she explained.
