That brilliant chameleon actor Kay Kay Menon is recovering from a bout of severe malaria. Speaking exclusively to Zoom, Kay Kay said, “I was hospitalised with malaria on September 29. Things got worse in the next two days and had to be transferred under emergency into ICU for ten days. I was discharged from the hospital three days back."He added, "Doctors have advised minimum of two weeks total rest and careful nutrition, since I have lost too much weight. I am unable to speak much because my voice is still not in order. Hence communicating through text. I am assuming that by November 10 or so, I shall be fit enough to resume my professional work.”ALSO READ: In an earlier interaction, Kaya Kay Menon had spoken to this writer about his journey as an actor. “I’ve no complaints. I never take success or failure seriously. Life cannot be without ups and downs. Every professional sees ups and down in his career. If I can leave behind something for posterity I’ve succeeded in doing what I had set out to do. I always feel my next film would be better than my last."He continued, "Actually the hardcore masala stuff is not difficult to do. Masala films require you to do just the opposite. The entire project is around the ego. Production requires a lot of money which I don’t have. Direction is also too risky for me. As an actor I’m shielded by a whole team of talents. However if I ever get bored of acting, I’ll definitely direct a film. I’ve always kept my dreams and roles separate. But I wouldn’t want to play that role. If I covet others’ roles there would be no enjoyment and no experiences to fall back on for my future roles.”
