Hyderabad Elderly Couple Killed Inside House With 'Rod', Neighbours Say They Always Closed Doors After 7 PM

Hyderabad: An elderly couple was found murdered inside their home in Sai Baba colony in the Amberpet area in Hyderabad. The husband, 80, was a former bank employee and his 75-year-old wife was a homemaker. The cops suspect it could be a case of murder for gain. The case comes on a day police cracked the double murder at a farmhouse in Kandukur and arrested a person for the gruesome killing of an elderly couple.Amberpet police said the dead bodies of the former bank employee Linga Reddy and his wife Urmila were found in a pool of blood. They were found dead at their residence on the ground floor of their multi-storied building on Saturday afternoon, reported Times of India.The incident came to light as the family members of the elderly couple couldn't reach them since Thursday night despite calling their phones several times. As per the report, the son-in-law of the deceased asked his friend to visit Linga Reddy’s house. "When he went to their house, the couple was found in a pool of blood. Their bodies were in a decomposed state," deputy commissioner of police, East Zone, B Bala Swamy told TOI. Police said the attackers seemed to have used rods as the deceased had injuries on their heads. The senior citizens were last seen on Thursday afternoon and it is being suspected they were killed later in the evening.

Front Door Locked, Neighbours Say Couple Was Always 'Cautious'The cops found that the front door was locked and the assailant gained entry and exited the house from a side door. The couple owned the building in which they were living. They have three daughters who all are in the US.The husband of the eldest daughter was in India and had gone to Bhopal for some work. The neighbours told the police the couple was always extremely cautious and used to lock their house from the inside by 7 pm.The duo made sure they did not open doors after 7 pm due to security reasons, the report added. Prima facie, the cops have found that US $2,000-3,000 were missing besides gold ornaments of Urmila. As there were no CCTVs at the house, police were verifying CCTVs of nearby residences, the report added.
