A stunning European country has been crowned as the best for those wanting to save their pennies whilst enjoying their getaway. A new study, from global travel booking platform , has revealed that Kosovo in southeastern Europe is the best place to travel for cheap food and drink.
In this beautiful country you can find restaurants with meals going from as little as £4.18, beers from £1.67 - and according to travel search engine flights from London to Kosovo start from £56. Kosovo is a landlocked country, located in the center of the Balkan Peninsula, bordered by Albania to the southwest, Montenegro to the west, Serbia to the north and east and North Macedonia to the southeast.
This makes their traditional meals heavily influenced by Serbia, Albania, Turkey and Greece, alongside other neighbouring countries. Expect lots of grilled meats, typically beef, chicken and lamb and freshwater fish, commonly served with potatoes or rice.
In its infancy as a tourist destination, many feel it doesn't get enough recognition for its untouched natural beauty and fascinating history and culture. Be sure to have a cup of coffee during your stay as the country is well renowned for its coffee culture.
In its capital, Pristina, you'll find the best spots for some delicious yet affordable meals and so much more. Here you can visit the Kosovo Museum, which provides insights into the history and culture of Kosovo, including exhibits on the region's past.
You can also visit the Newborn Monument, the Cathedral of Saint Mother Teresa, and wander through the old market (Tregu i vjeter). Germia Park, a large urban park in Pristina, offers lush greenery and recreational facilities.

Kosovo possesses alluring landscapes, so if you're the adventurous type, the country has lots to offer. Over in the Rugova Mountains you can hike through the scenic Rugova Canyon, known for its gorgeous landscapes and outdoor activities like rock climbing and caving.
"Very beautiful and impressive Canyon. Visited it with Top Balkan Tours. I will definitively come back to do more activities such as the Via Ferrata, the Zipline and Hiking.", wrote a pleased TripAdvisor reviewer.
Travel blogger uses her platform to teach women how to travel the world safely, and in one of her blogs, writes of her time in Kosovo. She said she was "welcomed in the warmest way possible - huge smiles and heartfelt thanks for coming."
