Wheeler Dealers presenter Mike Brewer has revealed the most reliable vehicle on the road with cars "never coming back" for repairs. The host of the classic car restoration series admitted South Korean brand Kia appeared to be the best of the bunch with a superb reliability record.
Kia is one of the top-selling brands in the country, with The Sportage SUV pivotal to its success. The company is now branching into electric models with the Niro and EV6 fresh off the production line. However, Mike stressed motorists who want a good second hand model should look no further than Asian marques.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Mike said: "I would say Kia. Kia, Hyundai, these new Chinese companies like BYD, they are really getting good reviews in terms of the cars they offer, their reliability and how they perform.
"All of the Asian, Japanese brands have always had that great reputation for reliability but then so have the German brands as well, there are still good cars out there.
"At the top of my list at the moment from my personal experience selling cars from One Automotive, when we are selling a Kia we never see them come back.
"If we sell thirty Transits a month, if we sell a Ford Transit we might see one come back for an engine warning light or a small problem that may appear, but if we sell a Kia we wave goodbye to them and never see them again."
Motorists should consider reliability before going ahead and finalising a deal on any second-hand used car. Drivers can research any specific vehicle history using a range of online tools.
MOT history records are available for anyone to access, while details around average mileage, recalls and more can be found through a simple search.
However, those with limited knowledge of vehicles are unlikely to run into major problems with Mike, admitting it would be hard to pick a dud.
Mike added: "Japanese, Korean or Chinese now they are always really good, well-built cars. It's hard to buy a bad car these days, I must say across the board it's hard to buy a bad car these days. Most cars are really good."
