Israeli forces have killed 5 Palestinians who they say crossed the ceasefire line in Gaza City on Monday, putting Donald Trump's ceasefire deal at risk of collapse. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said the suspects were approaching forces in the eastern neighbourhood of Shejaiya this morning (Tuesday, October 14).
The military claimed the individuals were approaching its soldiers when they were killed. The IDF confirmed they "removed the threat" before the Palestinians were able to breach the army encampment in the area. As reported by the Times of Israel, the military said: "The IDF calls on Gaza residents to follow its instructions and not to approach the troops deployed in the area."
The killings come just a day after Hamas freed all remaining hostages as part of a ceasefire deal. Israel also sent 38 buses of Palestinian detainees back to Gaza.
Saleh Aljafarawi, a 28-year-old Palestinian citizen journalist, was also shot dead in Gaza City hours after the peace deal.
