From and Silent Hill, to Amnesia: Dark Descent, SOMA and P.T, the horror genre has produced some of my favourite games (and demos) of all time.
2024 has been a particularly good year for fans of the genre, with big publishers and smaller indie studios releasing some absolute classics.
With Halloween season upon us, we've picked out some of better horror games to have released in recent times.
Indeed, these aren't necessarily the best horror games of all time, but rather six of the most terrifying titles that are readily available on the current generation of consoles and PC.

The psychological horror game took the genre to new heights when it launched in the early 2000s, proving that video games could deal with heavy and mature themes in a new and unique manner.
Despite some concerns during the development period, the recently released remake more than did the original game justice, offering the same old scares, but with modern visuals and all sorts of quality of life improvements.
