Marcus Rashford admits he "hopes" to play alongside Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal, stirring speculation over a potential transfer this summer. The Manchester United forward is set to leave permanently after spending the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa and continues to be linked with a La Liga switch.
Barcelona is reportedly Rashford's dream destination, just as the club was in January before they failed to finance a move, and he landed at Villa Park. Despite the Spanish giants' ongoing pursuit of Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, they are said to maintain an interest in Rashford. And United are looking to sell the academy graduate to boost Ruben Amorim's summer budget and fund further signings.
The 27-year-old's decision to start pre-season training early in Spain is noticeable, given his reported desire to move to the Nou Camp.
And he wasn't shy in sharing his hopes of playing alongside Yamal at Barcelona in a recent interview with YouTube channel xBuyer.
"Yeah, for sure. Everybody in the world wants to play with the best, you know. So hopefully, we will see," Rashford .
He added: "What Lamine is doing at his age is not normal. It is difficult to put it into words because he is not supposed to be doing such things at 16 to 17. He is going to keep improving."
Yamal turns 18 in July and has already flourished into one of the world's best players, plundering 18 goals and 25 assists in 55 appearances for Barcelona last season.
The Spanish winger has already lifted two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and helped fire his nation to Euro 2024 glory.
Rashford won't be the only attacker keen to link up with Yamal, and the wantaway United No. 10 was complimentary about Spain as a country in general.
"Spain is nice, not too far from home," Rashford continued during the video titled '24 hours with Marcus Rashford'.
"If I'm training here for a long period, it's good because then my family can come to see me for a couple of days - only a three-hour flight. It's nice here, and the weather is also good."
Rashford is among the players in the shop window as United push to generate funds for more signings after Matheus Cunha.
The Red Devils also want to cash in on Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho as part of an attacking overhaul.
Meanwhile, work continues to strike an agreement with Brentford over a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.
