Manchester United tasted their 16th Premier League defeat of the season at Brentford on Sunday after Ruben Amorim named the club's youngest-ever team in the competition. Mason Mount broke the deadlock but the visitors staged a damaging collapse to fall 4-1 behind after 74 minutes. Alejandro Garnacho's stunner and Amad's stoppage-time strike teased a late comeback but proved to be consolation contributions.
Amorim made eight tweaks to the team that beat Athletic Club 3-0 on Thursday, prioritising the Europa League semi-final second leg at Old Trafford in four days. But he will be sweating over the fitness of Matthijs de Ligt, who went down injured in the build-up to Brentford's go-ahead goal and limped off moments later.

Man Utd player ratings vs BrentfordAltay Bayindir: 3
Sloppy on the ball, which didn't help ease United's problems building up from the back. Made a series of decent saves to limit the damage but also conceded four.
Tyler Fredricson: 5
Looked assured again in the first half of his second senior start but was physically inferior in a number of aerial battles and would've wanted the pitch to swallow him up as the fourth went in.
Matthijs de Ligt: 5
The sight of De Ligt hobbling down the tunnel was arguably more worrying for Amorim than the scoreboard changing from 1-1 to 2-1 just after the half-hour mark.
Luke Shaw: 2
Almost scored an own goal three minutes in, and then did score an own goal to draw Brentford level. Still doesn't look fully fit and was hauled off at half-time.

Patrick Dorgu: 4
A surprise starter after Amorim highlighted his fatigue in Bilbao on Thursday night. Caught slacking as Schade headed the Bees in front. Also taken off at the break.
Manuel Ugarte: 6
Started the game superbly and continued to show press resistance and tenacity that United have very little of. One of the visitors' best players but couldn't win the midfield battle alone. Set up Amad's late goal.
Kobbie Mainoo: 5
Produced a marvellous pass to Alejandro Garnacho in the build-up to Mount's opening goal. Brentford's energetic midfield consumed him over the 90 minutes.
Harry Amass: 3
The 18-year-old's inexperience showed in a number of duels where he was physically ousted. A learning curve on his third Premier League start.
Mason Mount: 6
Scored his second United goal after his first... at Brentford. A tidy goal at the end of a sumptuous team move. Darkness followed.
Alejandro Garnacho: 8
The shining light on another horrid day. His 13th consecutive start for a reason.
He's shown improvement creatively in recent weeks and crafted four chances against Brentford, including a perfect assist for Mount. Scored a sensational consolation goal, finding the top corner from outside the box.
Chido Obi: 4
An exciting inclusion in the starting lineup, becoming the youngest United starter in Premier League history. However, the 17-year-old touched the ball just 14 times and couldn't make an impact.
