ITV Until I Kill You viewers all have same complaint within minutes of John Sweeney drama

New series Until I Kill You follows the story of Delia Balmer, played by Ludwig star Anna Maxwell-Martin, who encounters killer John Sweeney.

The harrowing story unfolds following Delia's meeting with Sweeney, a carpenter and apparent kindred spirit, at a Camden pub in 1991. But as Delia encountered Sweeney at the bar just minutes after the show began, fans all quickly said the same thing.

They couldn't help but comment on Maxwell-Martin's accent during her portrayal, as one said: "Great drama, but is anyone else finding Anna Maxwell Martin's accent a bit odd and inconsistent."

Another agreed: "Yes me. Finding it a bit annoying."

A third chimed in: "It's shockingly bad. I really don't like her as an actress, but was told how good this was. Not convinced in the slightest."

A fourth complained: "Can hardly make out what she's saying."

A fifth raged: "However many places in the world a person has lived, no accent sounds like whatever Anna Maxwell-Martin is doing in."

During the first episode, Delia shared more about her upbringing with Sweeney, revealing she was born in Australia but had a British passport as her grandparents had dual nationality.

While having Christmas dinner with Sweeney's family, Delia explained that she lived in America and Canada for the first 13 years of her life.

On the surface, it appeared Delia had struck romantic gold with Liverpool-born Sweeney, who seemed to be an attentive partner, showering her with flowers and affection.

However, as the series and , beneath the facade was a man capable of unfathomable violence.

After Delia asked Sweeney to leave, his manipulation of her intensified, leading to a harrowing period in the spring of 1994 when he held her captive. During this time, he restrained her to a bed and threatened to cut out her tongue if she screamed.

While holding Delia hostage, Sweeney admitted to the murder of his former partner, Melissa Halstead, whose dismembered body was found in a Rotterdam canal in 1990.

Sweeney went on to murder Paula Fields in 2000. He was eventually found guilty of the murder of Melissa and Paula and was sentenced to life in prison in 2011.
