A royal expert has given their insights on how the Royal Family, including King Charles and Prince William, found out about Prince Harry's bombshell interview last week. The Duke of Sussex appeared on the BBC last week after he lost a High Court appeal regarding his downgraded security in the UK.
In the lengthy interview, Prince Harry made various sensational claims and spoke about his father's health, saying he does not know how much time he has left following his cancer diagnosis. He also described the ruling as a "good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up" and said the King "won't speak" to him.
The broadcast aired without prior media briefing, and according to a royal expert, the royals were given a "very brief" notice.
magazine's royal editor, Emily Nash, said on A Right Royal Podcast: "There was a very brief awareness-raising at the palace shortly before it broadcast.
"What I understand is that there were, potentially, discussions that might have happened as a result of the case now having been concluded."
Regarding the duke's feud with his family, Ms Nash said Harry potentially burned all bridges for a future reconciliation.
She explained: "What was made clear all along is that the King didn't feel he could have these conversations with his son because it would put him in a really difficult, and potentially unconstitutional, situation.
"He couldn't be seen to intervene on his son's behalf or get involved in government matters, his son is suing His Majesty's government, you know he needed to stay right out of this situation."
She added: "But once that had concluded, there was potentially a path to some kind of rapprochement, some kind of olive branch being offered.
"And I get the sense that that was the mood music, but that really quickly got switched off once the interview landed."
