Coronation Street fans say same thing as star lands new contract on ITV soap

Fans of Coronation Street have been elated to learn that one character will be sticking around on the ITV cobbles. It comes as it was reported that actress Amy Robbins, who took on the role of Christina, has wowed not only viewers but also show bosses and has allegedly signed a new contract with the popular soap.

The star made her debut almost three years ago in January 2023 for a one-off guest stint as the mother of Daisy Midgeley. While actress Charlotte Jordan, who played Daisy, quit the show earlier this year, the character of Christina will now reportedly be staying for good. In recent scenes, fans have seen the new regular clash with her outgoing love rival Jenny Connor, and find a love interest in funeral director George Shuttleworth. A source told the press that Amy is "classic Corrie" and bosses are delighted with her. They said: "She has really impressed bosses with Christina and how she's slotted into the cobbles effortlessly. It was a no brainer to offer her a new contract and snap her up properly."

"Christina is shaping up to be one of Corrie's classic women and there's lots of things to come in the future as she and George get loved up."

Fans were delighted with the news and took to social media to share their excitement. Posting to X/Twitter, one fan wrote: "Good decision #Corrie has made this year. Amy Robbins is utterly divine. Christina is brilliant, campy with glimpses of a heart of gold. She & Glenda make a great duo. Can't wait to see what's in store for her."

Another added: "Good decision #Corrie making Christina a permanent character. Amy Robbins is utterly brilliant."

While a third echoed: "I really like Christina, she's a breath of fresh air, plus, shes the only one who has Theo's measure #Corrie."

On Monday's episode of the ITV soap, Christina was seen helping George get to the bottom of what is going on with ToddGrimshaw (Gareth Pierce). She encouraged him to snoop through Todd's emails to find any proof that he is hiding something.

That was when the funeral director discovered that Todd was at the hospital getting results of a bowel cancer test and he rushed to be by his side for support.
