Aldi shoppers have been left disappointed after a much-loved breakfast drink quietly vanished from shelves. The Barissimo Protein Iced Coffee, which gained a loyal following for its low price and high protein content, has been pulled from stores all across the UK.
The iced coffee, sold in original latte and caramel flavours, was priced at just 99p and contained 20g of protein per cup. Described by fans as "one of the better coffee drinks" they've tried, it had become a regular part of many shoppers' morning routines. When Aldi launched the caramel flavour earlier this year, several customers claimed it "tasted amazing" and even said it was "better than Lidl's version."
But in recent weeks, the drink has disappeared without explanation. One shopper in the North East posted a photo of the product to a popular Aldi UK Facebook group, asking: "Anyone know where these have gone? I can't find them in any local Aldi."
Some shoppers claimed staff had told them the drink was "temporarily discontinued", while others had been informed it was a "seasonal product."
A shopper in Dorset said: "I asked in Aldi and they said they're temporarily discontinued. Gutted! Hopefully they come back."
The retailer has since confirmed that the Barissimo Protein Iced Coffee was part of a seasonal range rather than a permanent fixture.
A spokesperson said the drink was "making a guest appearance as a seasonal product" and would only be available for a limited time, though it is expected to return to stores next year.
The product's quiet exit comes as Aldi continues to expand its UK presence. The supermarket is opening an average of one new store a week for the rest of 2025, with 11 confirmed sites in locations including London, Liverpool, Deeside and Market Harborough.
