The speed of the monsoon, which arrived before its scheduled time after 16 years, has now slowed down. It may take some time for the monsoon to regain its speed. The Indian Meteorological Department says that a new weather system is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal, which will re-activate the monsoon. Then it will move forward to the rest of the country. This year the monsoon arrived ahead of time in Kerala on 24 May. This was the earliest start in the last 16 years.

Very little rain in the last three days

Weather experts believe that fluctuations in the speed of monsoon are a normal feature of the weather. In this monsoon season, which lasts for about four months, sometimes there is heavy rain and sometimes there is a period of sluggishness. But this time the surprising thing is that this halt has come at the beginning of the season itself, which is not usually seen. Due to this, there has been a huge drop in the amount of daily rainfall across the country. However, due to heavy rains in Northeast India, the average rainfall across the country has remained normal so far. But South and Central India, from where the monsoon usually gains momentum, have received very little rain in the last three days.

Reactivation is expected over the Bay of Bengal...

Private weather forecasting agency Skymet Weather says that the northern boundary of the monsoon in the western direction has been stuck over Mumbai since May 26 and the eastern branch has been stuck near Balurghat in West Bengal since May 29. There is no possibility of any major progress of monsoon for the next week. Now the reactivation of monsoon is expected only after the formation of a system in the Bay of Bengal.

The amount of rainfall is going to remain very low.

The weak monsoon phase may continue till the middle of next week. During this time, some rain will continue in the hilly and plain areas of North India due to pre-monsoon activities and the remaining moisture in Northeast India, due to which there will not be much decline in the daily rainfall across the country. However, the amount of rainfall is going to be very low in the Western Ghats and South Peninsular India, where the first monsoon rains occur.

The monsoon will be active again.
A monsoon system is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal next week. Its initial form will appear as a cyclonic circulation around June 10. After this, it will take about 48 hours to strengthen and organize. The reactivation of the monsoon will start from Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana and reach Maharashtra between June 12 and 14. Monsoon currents will gradually reactivate along the west coast, including Kerala, coastal Karnataka, Goa, and the Konkan region. This withdrawal will be gradual but will be strong.

When will it rain from UP to Rajasthan?
The Meteorological Department says that the monsoon is likely to remain sluggish in Maharashtra in the coming days. However, according to the forecast, the monsoon will strengthen again after June 11 and start covering the rest of the country. Around June 11, a new weather system will develop in the Bay of Bengal which will strengthen the monsoon. Also, there will be favorable conditions for its further progress in the northern parts of the country. Monsoon is expected to reach the rest of North India by mid-July.

Know how the weather will be in the states.

Heavy rains are expected in the northeastern states during the next seven days. The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rains in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on June 4. Several cyclonic winds along with the western disturbance are going to affect northwest India. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh as well as parts of Rajasthan will receive rain and thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy rains are expected in Kerala and coastal Karnataka, especially on June 4. Thunderstorms are also likely in parts of Telangana, interior Karnataka, and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
