ITBP Commandant's Heartbreaking Suicide Note Blames Bihar Police Officer for Sister's Humiliation

Patiala/Bhagalpur – A tragic case has shaken both the police and paramilitary circles after Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Deputy Commandant Ayush Deepak ended his life, leaving behind a suicide note that accuses a Bihar police officer of publicly humiliating his sister.

The officer, posted in Patiala, Punjab, was found dead on October 4, having hanged himself at his residence. The suicide note he left behind has exposed disturbing details, alleging that Lalmatia Police Station in-charge Rajiv Ranjan dragged his sister by the hair, tore her clothes, and stripped her half-naked.

“I am ending my life because the Lalmatia police officer dragged my sister by her hair, tore her clothes, and stripped her half-naked. I could not protect her honor. Rajiv Ranjan is responsible for my death,” the note reads.

Case registered; officer likely to be arrested

Following the discovery of the note, Patiala Police registered an FIR based on the statement of the deceased’s brother-in-law, Akash Jain. The note directly holds Rajiv Ranjan, now posted at Vikramshila Police Station, Banka (Bihar), responsible for abetting the suicide. After being named in the case, the accused officer was relieved of his duties at the Lalmatia police station. Patiala Police are reportedly preparing to arrest him in connection with the case.

“That was my sister’s only fault”

Ayush’s note further describes how his sister, Jyoti, the wife of a Bihar government Chief Engineer, was allegedly assaulted for intervening when police were beating women and children at Pasi Tola, Kabirpur Road, Nathnagar.

He wrote, “My sister’s only fault was that she asked the police not to beat women and children. Rajiv Ranjan mistreated her and even filed a false case against her. As a member of the armed forces, I could not protect her honor. I feel helpless and hopeless. Even my call to the SSP proved futile.”

SSP’s response

Responding to the allegations, Bhagalpur SSP Hriday Kant said, “This incident occurred around four months ago. It’s possible a call was made after that. Many such calls come in. I had assigned the investigation to the concerned DSP. Now, the Patiala police are investigating the matter, and the City SP has been given charge of the inquiry.”

The case has drawn widespread attention, with calls for accountability and justice growing louder. The Bihar police officer accused in the note may soon face arrest as investigations continue across both Punjab and Bihar jurisdictions.
