Australia’s star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who had earlier announced his ODI retirement after the Champions Trophy loss to India, reminded fans of his explosive batting by scoring a brilliant century in the ongoing Australia One-Day Cup. Playing for Victoria, Maxwell hit 107 runs off 82 balls, smashing 15 boundaries, including 7 sixes.

Maxwell’s First Domestic ODI Century in 15 Years

Chasing 311 against Queensland, Victoria suffered a batting collapse, losing five wickets for just 104. Maxwell then launched a counterattack, racing to his half-century in 37 balls and completing his century in 72 balls. This knock was particularly special as it was Maxwell’s first List-A century for Victoria in his 15-year domestic career. Despite his efforts, Victoria was bowled out for 255, losing the match.

Labuschagne Steals the Show for Queensland

Queensland captain Marnus Labuschagne was named Player of the Match after scoring a superb 130 off 118 balls. He was supported by Jack Wildermuth, who smashed 54 off just 30 deliveries, guiding Queensland to 310.

The contest turned into a run-fest with 565 runs scored in total, featuring Maxwell’s fireworks for Victoria and Labuschagne’s match-winning century for Queensland.
