Who is Ozzy Osbourne's son Louis? Childhood memories to final moments with late rocker

When Ozzy Osbourne's death was announced last night, some didn't immediately recognise some of the names signing off the family statement sharing the sad news with fans.

The Black Sabbath frontman's death at the age of 76comes just weeks on from the rocker's farewell gig in his hometown of Birmingham earlier this month.

"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our belovedOzzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the family statement reads. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis."

While casual fans will immediate recognise Sharon as Ozzy's wife and 'Jack, Kelly, Aimee' as the three children he shared with the former X Factor judge, some will have wondered who 'Louis' is.

Although Jack and Kelly became Ozzy's most famous offspring due to their stint on The Osbournes with their parents, with Aimee opting not to appear on the reality TV show, Ozzy was actually a father to six children.

Before even meeting Sharon, Ozzy was a dad-of-three thanks to his first marriage to ex-wife, Thelma Riley, whom he was married to from 1971 to 1982. The late singer adopted Kinglsey, Thelma's son from a previous relationship, before he became a biological father for the first time in 1972 when daughter Jessica was born.

Three years later, son Louis was born. While Kinglsey and Jessica weren't named on the Osbourne family statement last night, it appears Louis was present for his father's final hours.

Louis appeared in the first season of The Osbournes - featuring heavily in the Christmas special 'A Very Ozzy Christmas'. The programme, which proved popular among audiences in the UK and across the pond, saw them go about their daily lives as cameras documented their every move.

When it came to an end in 2005, poet Benjamin Zephaniah, who, like Ozzy, hailed from Birmingham, wrote a five-stanza poem dedicated to the family.

In the 2011 documentary 'God Bless Ozzy Osbourne', Louis' sister Jessica got candid about their relationship with the War Pigs rockers. "My recollection from my childhood with dad is that he'd be away for very long periods of time, and there'd always be a period of adjustment when he came home, and then it'd get to normality and then he'd go again," she said during the programme.

"It was a very erratic childhood with dad," Jessica added before she and Louis both recalled Ozzy rarely being home and always going to bars.

In 2012, Louis opened up about his relationship with his famous father and his half siblings. "I don’t travel half as much as I used to and they are in America," he told Birmingham Live in 2012. "There is more chance of us seeing each other in a random New York hotel than us all getting round a table for a Sunday lunch. We meet on special occasions."

He and his dad, however, did make a point to check in on a regular basis. "Dad usually calls on a Sunday afternoon for a catch up and when he comes over to the UK we take the kids down. Dad is great, very much a doting grandad."

In 2020, Ozzy revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and he paused touring in 2023 after extensive spinal surgery. He had a fall at home in 2019, which aggravated injuries from a near-fatal quad bike crash in 2003, stopping his No More Tours 2 shows from going ahead in Europe and the UK.

The tour had previously been rescheduled several times because of illness, the Covid-19 pandemic and logistical issues. He told Good Morning America in January 2020 that it was discovered he had the neurodegenerative disorder after a fall.

He said: "I did my last show New Year’s Eve at The Forum. Then I had a bad fall. I had to have surgery on my neck, which screwed all my nerves and I found out that I have a mild form."
