Oswaldtwistle dog attack on boy as Staffie and Pocket Bully type breeds seized

A four-year-old boy was rushed to hospital with injuries to his leg and face after being bitten by a on a residential street.

have urged the public to come forward with any footage that may have captured the moment the youngster was set upon before two dogs were seized. Officers said in a statement: "We’re appealing for information and footage after a suffered a dog bite. The child, a four-year-old boy, was taken to with injuries to his leg and face. Thankfully, those injuries are not life threatening. Two have been seized by police – a Staffordshire Bull Terrier type and a Pocket Bully Type and the dog owner has been identified and will be spoken to in due course."

Officers from Hyndburn Police moved to reassure the public following the attack in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, on Monday afternoon. "We know this may be concerning to hear about, but we want to reassure you that enquiries are ongoing into the incident, and we are asking for your help to assist those enquiries," the force said. "We are particularly interested in viewing any CCTV footage of the area, that may have captured the incident."

Members of the public who have any information or footage on the incident, or those who witnessed the attack unfold, are being asked to contact Hyndburn Police by calling 101 quoting log 0603 of May 26th.

The incident comes just weeks after two toddlers were left seriously injured after being attacked by a dog inside a house in Liverpool. The children, aged two and three, and an 18-year-old woman were mauled on Johnson Avenue in Prescot on May 1. and North West Ambulance Service raced to the scene before the two youngsters were taken to hospital to treat serious leg and arm injuries.

At least two ambulances and two police cars were seen parked up on the residential road following the attack, where a dog was seized. Chief Inspector Phil Thompson said at the time: "This is a shocking incident that has resulted in two toddlers being taken to hospital with serious leg and arm injuries. If you have any information that could help our investigation, please get in touch as a matter of urgency.

"We are in the very early stages of investigating this incident and the dog has been seized at the home. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the breed of the dog and identify the owner."
