Jabeen Naru, representing Henley Stocks, told the court: "A couple of years ago she was seriously harmed - strangled and left for dead - and that person ended up in prison. On this occasion, which was Easter Monday during the bank holiday weekend, she had been out.
"By chance, she came across the perpetrator and this caused her to have an anxiety attack. She had a couple of bottles of wine in her car and she pulled over and drank them and continued home. She was drinking to calm her nerves. She regrets it."
Ms Naru said Henley Stocks had been employed at the time as a professional carer, driving to people's homes to look after them. She said the woman had handed in her notice after the offence, knowing she would lose her driving licence, reported .
She has been banned from driving for 25 months and given a 12-month community order that will include 100 hours of unpaid work. She was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
