Miley Cyrus paid a touching tribute to the late Paula Yates in a recent shoot. The Flowers singer wore items of Paula's wardrobe, including a green floral print dress for the cover of Perfect magazine.

Pixie Geldof said her mum would "have got a kick out of it". Telling the emotive story behind the images, she said the dress brought back happy memories of lazy family Sundays.

She wrote: "First time lending any of my mums archive. But we love Miley in this household. So when Katy Grand (Perfect editor) asked I said of course. I sent a few bits over, and what I love is it’s this beautiful everyday dress that they chose for the cover, a dress that was worn on sleepy Sundays, not big time parties, that spoke to Katie and Miley most, that for them carried her essence.

"I don’t imagine there is anyone who I would wanna see in her archive more than Miley, another fiercely talented, kind and hilarious powerhouse," the emotional statement continued.

TV presenter and writer Paula died in 2000 aged 41 of a heroin overdose. The mum-of-four was loved for her On The Bed interviews on The Big Breakfast and had high-profile relationships with musicians Bob Geldof and Michael Hutchence.

Pixie and Miley have been friends for years. Pixie has been spotted at Miley’s gigs and the pair have been pictured on nights out together.

It comes eleven years after Peaches Geldof died and the late star adored her mum, Paula Yates, who passed years earlier in tragically similar circumstances. The bubbly Big Breakfast star died in 2000, aged 41, after a heroin overdose - 14 years before Peaches' own life was cut tragically short.

The mum-of-two, who also died from an overdose aged just 25, never got over losing Paula, who was herself heartbroken when her partner, INXS star Michael Hutchence, died by suicide in 1997, aged 37.

Peaches even shared a heartbreaking final photo of herself as a child with her mum before she was found dead at her home in Kent in 2014.

The model's death sent shockwaves around the world in a tragic case of history repeating itself, which left her father, Bob Geldof, bereft.

It is perhaps little wonder that Peaches would go on to have a difficult adolescence. After Paula’s death, she began drinking alcohol and experimenting with drugs, much to her dad's horror.

"Yeah, I’ve taken drugs. Yes, I’ve had experiences, and a few of those experiences were unsavoury, not ones I want to repeat, but I was growing up,’ she told the Spectator before adding: "I wanted the experience."

In a tragic final interview, Peaches claimed it was only after she became a mum to sons Astala and Phaedra in 2012 and 2013 that she came to terms with the loss of Paula.

Speaking to Aga Living magazine, published in the Sunday Times, the young mum said she felt her TV presenter mother was "living through me all the time because we are just so similar".

Explaining that her sons had allowed her to achieve a new understanding of the world, she said: "I'm not sure I've yet fully made peace with my childhood, but with my mum I have come to terms with everything."

However, just months later, the Geldof family was rocked by another tragedy, when history appeared to have repeated itself.
