Love Island fans 'gobsmacked' as real reason for Harrison's exit revealed

There were tears all round in Love Island tonight as Harrison said his goodbyes to the villa. It was reported earlier today that the 22-year-old haddeparted the showafter being in a love triangle with Toni and Lauren. It was revealed in tonight's episode that he left to be with Lauren, who was dumped the night prior.

During tonight's episode, viewers witnessed Lauren get booted out the villa after new bombshell Angel put Lauren's partner Ty in her number one spot. This meant they had automatically been put in a couple - and Lauren had been left single, and dumped from the Island.

The brutal text left the Islanders in shock, especially her former partner Harrison. The pair went for a private chat in which Harrison asked Lauren if she was willing to give it another go. Lauren said she was and said if he left with her, it would tell her everything she needs to know.

“Will you wait for me?” Harrison asked as Lauren made her exit. “Promise you will come?” she later asked, as Harrison said he promised he would. However, the boys told him to sleep on it and to not make any rash decisions.

The next day, Harrison confided in Harry and Dejon, saying he'd made his mind up and wanted to make Lauren his girlfriend on the outside. He then gathered the rest of the Islanders around the firepit, as he said an emotional goodbye.

"Prior to the Villa I wanted to find a girlfriend, someone I want to introduce to my family and I think I’ve found that…. Mine and Lauren’s connection was something special, I wanted to stay true to myself and follow my heart," he told them.

"I just wanted to see thank you all for making this crazy expereince the best one of my life, and Young Bull's out I guess," he chuckled as the whole villa broke down in tears.

"Go get your girl," Helena and Harry told him. Before leaving, Harrison broke down in tears as he apologised to Toni for how he treated her in the villa, as she told him: "I know you're not a bad person," before she pleaded him not to treat Lauren how he treated her.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter after Harrison's departure, one fan penned: "HARRISON GONE?" as another shocked fan questioned: "how is harrison and lauren gonna make miami and uk work???"

"Can't believe Harrison decided to leave!!" exclaimed another.

Toni was left in tears following Harrison's exit, as she asked the rest of the girls: "How many more times do I make someone a better person for somebody else?" However, Toni and Cach appeared to make amends during tonight's episode - so could she finally get her happy ending?

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
