The 34-horse line-up for Saturday's Grand National has been confirmed as Aintree prepares for its showpiece event. Last year's winner I Am Maximus heads the contenders for the £1 million prize which will feature a maximum 34 runners.
Trained by champion jumps trainer , the JP McManus-owned chaser attempts to join the likes of Red Rum and Tiger Roll by winning the world's greatest steeplechase for the second consecutive year. Two-time Grand National winner Mullins has six runners in the race while Gordon Elliott, Tiger Roll’s trainer, trains five challengers.

Billionaire McManus will become the most successful owner in Grand National history if one of his five contenders can provide him with a fourth success. Not only does he have I Am Maximus, but also Iroko, Perceval Legallois, Meetingofthewaters and Chantry House.
Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning trainer Gavin Cromwell trains Perceval Legallois as well as the hotly fancied Cross Country Chase winner Stumptown and 2023 Grand National runner-up Vanillier.
While fan favourite Hewick, the £800 horse trained by Shark Hanlon, will be popular with the public.

Rachael Blackmore, who became the first female rider to win the Grand National on Minella Times in 2021, has chosen to ride Minella Indo, who finished third last year. Darragh O'Keeffe partners trainer Henry de Bromhead's second runner Senior Chief.
There was no place in the field for the Harry Redknapp-owned Shaken Up’Arry who has become first reserve and will only get a start in the event of a non-runner being declared by 1pm on Friday.
Hitman, trained by Paul Nicholls, will carry the silks of Sir and will be ridden by 19-year-old Freddie Gingell.
