Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal colleagues finally have a chance to relax after what has been a hectic summer. The Gunners were hard at work in the transfer market to add to Arteta’s squad.
In all, eight new faces arrived at the Emirates across what was a lucrative window. Arsenal ’s work on additions continued all the way up until deadline day, with defender Piero Hincapie completing a last-gasp switch to North London.
The centre-back will no doubt be keen to make his debut for the Gunners as soon as possible but he has been made to wait. The first international break of the campaign has brought domestic action to a pause for now.
Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture pits them against Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium. And no doubt Arteta will already be putting thought into that game.
With that being said, take a look at all of the news coming out of North London over the past 24 hours:

Berta ‘happy’ for Arteta failureArsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta was reportedly thrilled that Arsenal did not manage to sign Joan Garcia - despite Mikel Arteta picking out the Spanish goalkeeper. The Gunners were linked with a move for the former Espanyol man.
But in the end, he ended up moving to Barcelona after they activated a £21m release clause written into his contract with his former club. Berta was seemingly relieved at that fact and then opted to sign an even cheaper goalkeeper.
Arsenal eventually signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Premier League rivals Arsenal after activating his £5m release clause. Meanwhile, Garcia has already played three league games for Barcelona.

And while Berta got his way when it came to a choice of stopper, he certainly didn’t regarding a midfield signing. According to reports, a deal for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi was well underway before Berta arrived at the club.
The leg work on that deal had already been done on his £60m switch. Had Berta arrived at the club earlier, he would likely have pushed for alternatives.
It has not been revealed exactly who Berta was targeting but Arsenal were linked with Atletico Madrid’s Pablo Barrios and Lucien Agoume of Sevilla.
Premier League make fixture announcementThe Premier League have confirmed that Arsenal’s clash with Crystal Palace next month has been moved. The North London side take on Crystal Palace in October.
But due to the both sides’ European involvement, the game has now been moved. The match will now take place on Sunday, October 26. Kick-off is scheduled for 2pm.
Arsenal will host Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in the Champions League that week.
