Sharjah International Book Festival to spotlight Indian and Bulgarian Literary Icons.

Sharjah | On November 9, SIBF will host Georgi Gospodinov, the award-winning Bulgarian writer, poet, and dramatist,at a session titled “From Natural novels to Time shelter : A journey with Georgi Godpodinov” at Book Forum 3 from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Gospodinov, known for acclaimed works such as “The Physics of Sorrow” and “Time Shelter,” will discuss his unique storytelling approach, which blends poetry with fiction. He will explore themes of memory, time, and the human experience, offering attendees an opportunity to engage with one of Europe’s most celebrated literary figures. His novel “Time Shelter” earned him the 2023 Booker Prize, and his works have been translated into more than 25 languages.

Chetan Bhagat, one of India’s most popular authors and motivational speakers, will appear on November 10 at the Conference Hall from 7:15 PM to 8:15 PM. His session, “An Evening with Chetan Bhagat,” will feature personal anecdotes from his latest book, “11 Rules for Life,” along with his views on contemporary issues. Known for his engaging mix of humor, inspiration, and thought-provoking insights, Bhagat promises a captivating session.

On the same evening, a celebrated actress and now an author,Huma Qureshi will be featured on the session “From Screen to Page: An Evening with Huma Qureshi” at Book Forum 1 from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Qureshi will discuss the creative process behind her debut novel, “Zeba: An Accidental Superhero,” and the challenges she faced in transitioning from acting to writing. Audiences can expect an intimate discussion about her career and the characters she has brought to life on the page.

On November 16, culinary expert and travel enthusiast Shehnaz Treasurywala will have a session titled “Journey and Recipes: An Evening with Shehnaaz” at Book Forum 1 from 7:15 PM to 8:15 PM. Treasurywala will share insights from her book, “All He Left Was a Recipe,” and discuss how her travels have inspired her culinary journey. Her session will combine personal stories with culinary insights for a unique experience.

The festival will also highlight two Indian women experts in archaeology and cultural history. On November 8, Devika Kariyappa will be present at “The Impact of Archaeology on Historical Narratives” at Book Forum 1 from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Kariyappa’s storytelling style blends education with adventure, encouraging young minds to connect with history through personal narratives.

On November 9, Rana Safiya will explore the intersection of art and history in her session, “Artistic Inspiration and the Creative Process,” at Book Forum 1 from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Safiya, the author of nine books on Indian monuments and culture, will provide insights into her research and creative journey, offering attendees a deeper understanding of Indian heritage.
