Man selected for constable post in UP Police booked for submitting fake certificate

Bhadohi (UP) | A man has been booked for allegedly submitting fake certificates after being selected for the post of constable under the direct recruitment exam by the Uttar Pradesh Police, officials said on Saturday.

Superintendent of Police, Bhadohi, Abhimanyu Manglik, said that Harsh Yadav, a resident of Gopiganj, was selected after the Police Direct Recruitment exam 2023, for which he had submitted a certificate stating that his grandfather, late Dina Nath Yadav, was a freedom fighter.

Manglik said that the certificate submitted by Yadav was sent for verification to the District Magistrate's office, where they discovered that the document was fake. Following this, his selection was cancelled.

Yadav has been booked under sections 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of the Indian Penal Code.

During the initial investigation, police tracked the source of the forged freedom fighter's family certificate to Sanjay Dubey. He is a resident of Mirzapur and the proprietor of a racket that issues fraudulent documents, the SP said.

He forged certificates for three others including two youths from Mirzapur and one from Jaunpur. The selected constables are presently getting training in different districts, SP said.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway
