Meanwhile, the Union Home Ministry has asked all the states to conduct mock drills on May 7. Instructions have been given to organize large-scale civil defense mock drills on May 7 in 244 identified districts across the country. This will be the first such exercise after the war with Pakistan in 1971.
What is the purpose of the mock drill?
Workshops will be organized in schools, offices and community centers in which people will be taught drop-and-cover, finding nearby shelters, first aid and handling mental state. Apart from this, electricity will be switched off suddenly so that the city can be hidden from the enemy's eyes in case of an air attack at night.
It is worth noting that mock drills have started in many states of the country.
In a school in Jammu, students are being trained to deal with any situation during mock drill practice.
SDRF personnel in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir practiced in preparation for the mock drill to be held on Dal Lake tomorrow (May 7).
The fire department team of Manipur assessed the preparations.
Why will the siren be sounded?
It is worth noting that red warning sirens will also be sounded in the mock drill. For the past few years, red sirens have been sounded between Russia and Ukraine as a warning to people in both countries to avoid missile attacks.
