Uttar Pradesh Nears Completion Of Revenue Records Digitisation, Begins Work On Pre-1990 Documents

Send Push

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has entered the final stages of its revenue records digitization project, with work now extending to documents created before 1990. This follows the near-completion of digitizing post-2002 records, with 95 percent of documents between 2002 and 2017 already converted to digital format as of April 2025.

Officials have initiated the tender process through UPDESCO for digitizing records from 1990 to 2001. The upcoming phase will focus on the oldest documents in the system, with physical copies scheduled for transfer to the Central Record Room after digitization.

The selection process is underway for an institution that will specialize in maintaining and securing these digitized records. The comprehensive digitization effort is expected to reduce physical storage requirements at local offices while improving public access to historical land and revenue documents.

The initiative forms part of broader administrative reforms aimed at modernizing record-keeping systems across Uttar Pradesh. Once completed, the digitized archive will serve as a centralized resource for property-related information and historical data.
