A sex racket operating under the guise of a massage parlour in Ashok Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Chandan Nagar Police Station, was busted by Crime Branch Unit 5, officials said on Saturday. The police rescued five young women, all from Pune, and arrested the parlour manager, they added.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Rahul Singh (24), a resident of Samartha Complex, Manjari Budruk, and Saibu Shaikh alias Saibu Mubarak Ali, a resident of Shri Ram Society, Chandan Nagar.
Regarding the case, the police said they received a tip-off about the sex racket being run in the name of a massage parlour on Nagar Road. Acting on the information, the police raided the premises and rescued five young women who were allegedly being forced into prostitution.
Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakne of Chandan Nagar Police Station, speaking to The Free Press Journal, said, "The investigation revealed that Singh and Shaikh lured the women into the illegal trade with the promise of money. While Singh has been taken into custody, Shaikh is on the run. Soon, all the people involved will be arrested."
