Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a freak incident, a 12-year-old boy lost his life after his neck got entangled in a homemade sari swing in an area under Habibganj police station on Wednesday evening.
The deceased, identified as Dev Vishwakarma, was a Class 3 student. Police said Dev had made the makeshift swing from a sari for his elder sister’s baby.
On Wednesday evening, while his sister was asleep, Dev was playing on the swing when the sari got wrapped around his neck and he was stuck. The boy was unable to free himself and could not even raise an alarm.

The child immediately raised an alarm, following which Dev’s sister woke up and rushed to release Dev. He was rushed to AIIMS Hospital, but doctors declared him dead.
Sub Inspector Narayan Singh Thakur said it appears to be an accidental death and no foul play is suspected. Statements from the family have been recorded and further investigations were underway, he added.
The body has been handed over to the family after postmortem examination, SI added.
