Mumbai Weather: IMD Issues Yellow to Red Alert amid heavy rainfall
Mumbai is currently experiencing unusually heavy rainfall for May, marking the earliest monsoon onset in the city since 1990. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai through Wednesday, warning of continued heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds reaching up to 40 km/h.

On Monday morning, thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds disrupted suburban train services and caused significant traffic delays due to poor visibility. The early arrival of the southwest monsoon, nearly ten days ahead of schedule, has led to continuous rainfall since Sunday night, resulting in waterlogging in low-lying areas.

The IMD forecasts that the heavy rainfall will persist throughout Monday, with the possibility of thunderstorms and gusty winds. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions.
