Actor and filmmaker Dhyan Sreenivasan recently spoke about the extraordinary grace and humility of Malayalam cinema legend Mohanlal, emphasizing that people often admire his acting brilliance but overlook the noble person behind the fame.
During an event organized by the Mohanlal Fans Association, Dhyan opened up about his father, veteran actor Sreenivasan’s, past criticism of the superstar. He revealed that Sreenivasan later offered an apology to Mohanlal during the filming of Hridayapoorvam, marking a moment of reconciliation between the two respected artists.
People Celebrate the Actor, Not the Man
Dhyan reflected on how deeply Mohanlal’s character as a human being has influenced those around him. He said that while no one can match Mohanlal’s immense talent on screen, it is his personality off-screen that deserves equal admiration. Dhyan shared that he has often felt society tends to celebrate Mohanlal’s cinematic achievements while failing to acknowledge the goodness and humility of the man himself.
He further recalled that when Sreenivasan once made sharp comments about Mohanlal during an interview, Dhyan publicly defended the actor in another conversation. He remarked that Mohanlal has faced both praise and criticism over his long career but has never responded with hostility. Referring to Mohanlal’s acceptance of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Dhyan admired his graciousness when he said that though people have elevated him to great heights and also pulled him down, he has never let either affect him.
Grace Beyond Stardom
Dhyan highlighted Mohanlal’s rare ability to remain calm and forgiving even in the face of negativity. Sharing a touching personal story, he revealed that when his father met Mohanlal on the Hridayapoorvam set after several years, Sreenivasan told him that he regretted any hurtful remarks he had made. Mohanlal, with characteristic kindness, simply smiled and said, “Let it go.” Dhyan described this moment as a powerful display of forgiveness that reflects the true essence of Mohanlal’s nature.
Mohanlal Honoured by the Indian Army
Meanwhile, the acclaimed actor received a commendation from Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi in New Delhi. Mohanlal, who holds the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army, described the recognition as a proud and humbling moment. He expressed gratitude to the Army fraternity, with whom he has been associated for over 16 years, calling the honour a heartfelt gesture.
Speaking to the media after the event, Mohanlal said he continues to contribute to the welfare of both the Army and civilians. He also shared that he and the Army Chief discussed ways to enhance efficiency within the Territorial Army battalions and initiatives for national progress. Concluding his remarks, the actor hinted that more significant plans were on the horizon for their collaborative efforts.
