The movie ‘ Abir Gulal’ starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan will not be allowed to release in India, reports said on April 24 citing I&B Ministry sources.
"The movie 'Abir Gulaal', starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, will not be allowed to release in India," the sources said.
Directed by Aarti S Bagdi and also starring Vaani Kapoor, the movie was set to make its debut in Indian cinemas on May 9.
Previously, Khan expressed his profound sadness regarding the "horrific" terrorist attack that occurred in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, as doubts surrounded the launch of his Bollywood return amidst calls for the film's boycott.
On Tuesday, a terrorist attack in South Kashmir's Pahalgam resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, primarily tourists. This incident has been labeled the most lethal in the region since the Pulwama attack in 2019.
Fawad, who last appeared in a Hindi film in 2016’s "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil," which also faced controversy following the Uri terror attack, voiced his condemnation of the Pahalgam attack through an Instagram Story on Wednesday evening.
Fawad’s reaction came shortly after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) reiterated its call for a ban on Pakistani artists on Wednesday.
They urged for a complete withdrawal of cooperation with all artists, singers, and technicians from Pakistan within the Indian film and entertainment sector.
"In light of the recent attack in Pahalgam, FWICE is once again compelled to issue a blanket boycott on all Pakistani artists, singers and technicians participating in any Indian film or entertainment projects. This includes performances or collaborations occurring anywhere in the world," the FWICE said in a statement.
