In a high-octane clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi Capitals (DC) edged past Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a dramatic Super Over finish after both teams posted 188 in their respective 20-over innings.
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bowl first. DC opener Jake Fraser-McGurk failed once again. Abishek Porel (49 off 37) as DC reached a strong position. Late fireworks came from Stubbs (34* off 18) and Axar Patel (34 off 14) as the Capitals ended at 188/5. Jofra Archer picked up two wickets.
In response, RR’s chase began confidently. Yashasvi Jaiswal hammered 51 off 37, while Sanju Samson looked threatening before retiring hurt. Nitish Rana chipped in with brisk knocks, at the end Shimron Hetmyer’s calm 15* that helped RR level the scores at 188/4 after 20 overs.
With the match tied, the Super Over saw Mitchell Starc shine with the ball, restricting RR to just 11/2 with sharp pace and yorkers. In the chase, DC’s KL Rahul and Stubbs kept their cool, finishing the game in just four balls. Rahul struck a boundary first, and Stubbs followed up with another, sealing a sensational win.
