The fast is traditionally concluded in the evening after offering Arghya (water offering) to the moon.

Auspicious Timing for Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi 2025

As per the Vedic calendar, the Krishna Paksha Chaturthi of Vaishakh month will begin at 1:16 PM on April 16 and conclude at 3:23 PM on April 17. Accordingly, the Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi fast will be observed on April 16. The moonrise, which marks the time for breaking the fast, is scheduled for 9:53 PM.

Rituals and Offerings for Sankashti Chaturthi

On the day of Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi, devotees should begin their day early, taking a bath and preparing for worship. A clean green cloth should be spread over a wooden platform or chowki, where an idol or image of Lord Ganesha is placed. The worship should include offerings of flowers, fruits, vermillion, rice grains (Akshat), and 21 blades of Durva grass, which are particularly dear to Lord Ganesha.

In addition, devotees may offer sweets such as modak, laddus, or sesame-based treats like tilkut, all of which are considered favorites of Lord Ganesha. These offerings are believed to bring divine grace and ensure a harmonious and prosperous life.
