Security Forces Intensify Operations in Bandipora

Earlier today, security forces conducted a cordon and search operation in Kulnar Bazipora, Bandipora district, acting on intelligence reports about terrorist presence. During the operation, an overground worker affiliated with a terrorist group was killed in an encounter. This action underscores the heightened alertness and proactive measures being undertaken by security agencies in the region.

High-Level Visits and Strategic Reviews

General Dwivedi’s visit follows a series of high-level engagements by government officials aimed at reviewing and strengthening security measures in Jammu and Kashmir. Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently visited Baisaran meadow, the site of the attack, to assess the situation firsthand and meet with local authorities and victims’ families. Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security to evaluate the national response and coordinate efforts across various agencies.

The Pahalgam attack, claimed by The Resistance Front, an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, has been identified as one of the deadliest in the region since 2008. The attackers, equipped with automatic weapons, targeted tourists in a calculated assault that has raised serious concerns about the security infrastructure in place, especially in tourist-heavy areas.
