Jalandhar (Punjab) [India], October 20 (ANI): Jalandhar Commissionerate Police on Sunday arrested five key operatives of the Bambiha-Kaushal Gang and recovered nine illegal weapons along with 15 cartridges smuggled from Madhya Pradesh, a Punjab police official said.
"The arrests have prevented targeted attacks on three individuals. The arrested accused are involved in multiple serious offences, including extortion, murder, and arms trafficking across several districts of Punjab," said the police.
Ongoing investigations aim to uncover their broader network and establish both backward and forward links to dismantle the gang entirely, police added.
Earlier on Thursday, the Border Security Force (BSF), in a joint operation with Punjab Police, recovered a packet of suspected heroin in Gurdaspur district, officials said.
The operation also led to the recovery of an Oppo smartphone and a Hero Splendor motorcycle, officials added.
In a separate incident, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), allegedly delivered by drone, was recovered from the India-Pakistan border in Punjab's Fazilka district, officials reported on Thursday. (ANI)
