The Central Government is going to introduce such a technology, which will show not only the number of the caller but also their real name on your mobile screen. The name of this new service is CNAP (Calling Name Presentation), and its trial has been successful.

What is this CNAP, which will change the way we call?

The full form of CNAP is 'Calling Name Presentation'. After the implementation of this service, whenever someone calls you, their mobile number as well as their real name will also appear on your screen. This will be the same name that the person had given in his form (CAF) while purchasing the SIM card. With this, no one will be able to cheat you by giving a fake name or identity.

How will the common man benefit?

This rule will prove to be a great strength for the common people.

Control over fraud: Fraud in the name of a bank officer, lottery, or KYC update will be curbed.

Get rid of spam calls: You will know in advance whether the call is from a marketing company or an important person.

Peace of mind: Now you will be able to easily decide whether to pick up the call or not, which will reduce disturbance in meetings or personal life.

What will be the rules for banks and companies?

Companies or banks that have a lot of numbers in bulk will be allowed to use a registered name (like 'XYZ Bank' or 'ABC Delivery') for all their numbers. For this, they will have to submit the necessary documents so that the authenticity of the name is maintained.

When will this service start?
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had instructed all telecom companies to trial it, which has been successful. Now soon the government can issue an order to implement it across the country. However, government telecom company BSNL has asked for 3 more months to fully implement it.
