WNBA star Caitlin Clark's new coach makes feelings clear on trying different sport

Caitlin Clark has been praised by her new golf coach after taking a lesson to enhance her skills on the green. The 22 year old is an open enthusiast of and participated in the John Deere Classic pro-am prior to joining the .

Many of her peers have joined the Unrivaled League during the off-season to increase their earnings and maintain their form for the upcoming season. However, Clark is taking a hiatus from basketball to pursue one of her other interests.

She's an avid golfer and is gearing up to participate in the pro-am at The Annika, the second-to-last event on the LPGA Tour. She will partner with host Annika Sorenstam and Nelly Korda at the tournament, which is scheduled for next month at the Pelican Golf Club in Florida.

In preparation for the event, Clark honed her swing in a lesson with Martha Foyer-Faulconer, who was on the LPGA circuit from 1987 to 1995. Foyer-Faulconer was impressed by Clark's ability to make rapid adjustments and said it had been a pleasurable session.

"Within the time we were working, we saw some drastic changes," Foyer-Faulconer told . "It's also part of her DNA because she's going to do things well," reports . "She wants to be as good as she can in everything she touches. She's very driven and passionate. It's fun to work with her."

Foyer-Faulconer tweaked Clark's stance, positioning her slightly further from the ball and advising her to loosen up her shoulders. They began with wedge shots to perfect the technique before progressing to drivers, sending balls soaring down the fairway.

The ex-LPGA star was impressed by Clark's innate ability, remarking: "Some of this stuff you can't teach people. They just either have it or they don't."

Before heading back to train with the Indiana Fever in April, Clark is set to spend ample time on the greens. She has previously shared her passion for golf with , highlighting its therapeutic benefits: "You can clear your mind, do something you really love and have the peace and quiet of just your friends around or even just yourself. I love being able to escape reality for a little bit."
