Sporting Lisbon striker grabbed all the headlines with a four-goal haul in a recent victory over Estrela Amadora - taking his tally to 16 goals in ten Portuguese top flight games this season.
It may be the Portuguese division, but the sensational Swedish striker is proving to be the one of the best in Europe right now and attracted interest from over the summer. The Gunners' failure to capture him may come back to haunt them though, with other clubs now circling.
Sporting boss was confirmed as the new head coach of Manchester United on Friday and Gyokeres could be an eventual target for the Red Devils. According to a recent , Arsenal can now expect competition from United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea for the 26-year-old's signature.
It remains to be seen if Gyokeres would prefer a return to England, having had periods as a player for Brighton and most recently Championship club Coventry City. He is believed to have a release clause in his contract around £85 million, but Sporting could be persuaded to sell for a fraction of the price.
reported back in September that offers of around £43 million would be heard. He would be a bargain at that price, however, Arsenal would have to be careful they don't involve themselves in a bidding war.
has been keen to improve his strikeforce with the Gunners also showing interest in Gyokeres' compatriot - Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Although Isak may cost more, he's Premier League-proven and has a soft spot for Arsenal with Thierry Henry his idol growing up. A move for him would also avoid the risk of being left empty-handed if Gyokeres decided to reunite with his former manager Amorim at Old Trafford.
Whatever happens, it's unlikely he will be in a Sporting shirt beyond the end of the current campaign.
