has addressed the prospect of Arsenal signing Athletic Club star Nico Williams, insisting he would enjoy the competition the proposed new signing would create.

Williams is rumoured to be a target for Arsenal ahead of the summer window, although it remains to be seen if the Gunners will pursue a deal for the Spain international.
Both Martinelli and Williams currently operate on the left wing for their respective clubs, and it would be expected the two would compete to start on the left wing were the Bilbao star to sign for Arsenal.
Martinelli has insisted that he would relish competing against new signings that sign for Arsenal this summer, while also outlining his desire to see the club bring in reinforcements.
"It’s a competition every day," Martinelli told reporters on Monday, via . "The club wants to have the best players in the world, because it is one of the biggest in the world as well.
"We are used to it. We are a big club. We need to have the best players. I will be really happy when we have big players coming to the team."
Martinelli went on to outline his determination to remain at Arsenal, amid what could result in speculation about his future if the Gunners were to sign Williams. Instead, the Brazilian insists he is accustomed to competing against his teammates for spots in the team.
“We play for Arsenal, it’s one of the biggest and best clubs in the world so we are used to it," said Martinelli.
"We are a big club so we need the best players. It’s been an amazing journey for me, I’ve improved a lot and when I got here we were playing in the Europa League and now we are in the semi final of the Champions League.
“I’m really happy here, this is my home, I love the club and the club has given me so much not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well. The people who work at the club, they have been amazing for me.
"Everyone has to have their dreams, when I was in Brazil, I knew it could be real, I knew it could be possible and be the best I could be.”
